Shimmersand, Iron Pine Peak, and Stillmoor PvP/Rift gear guide

Overview

This guide will cover the PvP and Planar goods merchants located in the zones of Shimmersand, Iron Pine Peak, and also Stillmoor. We have combined these zones because they all share the same PvP merchant and use the same rift currency. The gear from this guide has requirements of level 42 to 48. We will go over what merchants sell the gear, how to get it, and what order we recommend buying the gear.

The Gear

The gear pieces you can acquire from this guide are as follows (in no particular order):

  1. Blue quality chest : 3500 Planarite
  2. Blue quality PvP shoulders : 8550 Favor
    1. Alternative blue quality shoulders : 3000 Planarite
  3. Blue quality PvP boots : 6412 Favor
    1. Alternative blue quality boots : 2500 Planarite
  4. Blue quality PvP belt : 6412 Favor
  5. Blue quality legs : 1800 Planarite + 5 Inscribed Sourcestones
    1. Alternative blue quality PvP legs : 10687 Favor
  6. Purple quality legs : 3500 Planarite + 10 Inscribed Sourcestones
  7. Purple quality helmet : 3000 Planarite + 8 Inscribed Sourcestones
  8. Purple quality gloves : 2500 Planarite + 6 Inscribed Sourcestones
  9. Planar Focus/Essence : 1000 Planarite / 600 Planarite + 2 Inscribed Sourcestones, 800 Planarite + 3 Inscribed Sourcestones, 2500 Planarite + 1 Inscribed Sourcestone

As expected, with 3 zones, you have quite a selection of blue and purple quality gear. In some cases the “PvP Goods” merchant and the “Rare Planar Goods” merchant have the same choices. The Planar merchants also have multiple choices of leg armor (epic vs. blue quality). The Planar boots and shoulders are a good bit better then their PvP counterparts. But, you may be in a situation where you want to save your rift currency for some of the other items and buy the PvP items instead. On the flip side, the PvP legs are slightly better then the Planar legs. The purple legs, purple gloves, purple helmet, blue shoulders, blue boots, blue legs, blue chest, and Planar Focus/Essence will come from doing rifts and invasions. The other shoulders, boots, belt, and legs can be purchased with “Favor”, which is your PvP currency.

How to get the gear

  1. Planar items in these zones are not cheap. More so then ever, you want be doing rifts and invasions whenever they are up, especially invasions. I would start off by going for the blue quality legs from the Iron Pine Peak merchant in Whitefall. You can get these legs at level 42, from the “Rare Planar Goods” merchant in Whitefall, for 1800 Planarite + 5 Inscribed Sourcestones.
  2. Hopefully you have plenty of Favor saved up. Hit your “PvP Goods” merchant next, in either of the 3 zones, and pickup the blue quality shoulders and boots. Both of these PvP items will cost you 8550 and 6412 Favor respectively.
    1. The above items you can pickup at level 42. The next available PvP items are not wearable until level 48 (at which point you probably only want to buy the belt, for 6412 Favor, as the legs are only very slightly better then your planar legs).
  3. I believe the next best upgrade at this point is the blue quality chest piece, which you can find on the “Rare Planar Goods” merchant in Shimmersands Fortune’s Shore. This piece will cost you 3500 Planarite.
  4. As you can guess, about your only choices left are the purple quality pieces of each zone. It will be up to you as to which ones you purchase based on how many inscribed sourcestones you can gather while leveling through the 40′s. Below are the prices and locations where you can find each epic piece.
    1. Purple quality legs can be purchased forĀ 3500 Planarite + 10 Inscribed Sourcestones at the Fortune’s Shore “Rare Planar Goods” merchant in Shimmersand.
    2. Purple quality gloves can be purchased for 2500 Planarite + 6 Inscribed Sourcestones at the Whitefall “Rare Planar Goods” merchant in Iron Pine Peak.
    3. Purple quality helmet can be purchased for 3000 Planarite + 8 Inscribed Sourcestones at the Guardians Warden’s Descent “Rare Planar Goods” merchant in Stillmoor. Defiant merchant location coming soon.
  5. Extra: Nothing new really as far as planar focuses go in these zones. You have the option of a focus with 2 greater and 2 lesser essences or 1 greater and 4 lesser essence slots. The essences are of better power over the previous zones, and since this is our final zone of planar items it is probably a good idea to work on getting a level 50 focus setup with these essences. We now have images including all the different essences from each zones “Rare Planar Goods” vendors. Do not forget that in the capital cities, you can upgrade to a full focus which has 2 greater and 4 lesser essence slots. This one will cost you 6500 Planarite.

Where to get the gear

See the below maps for both Guardian and Defiant factions NPC locations. There is only one image of gear and essence stats since both sides use the same equipment, and the PvP gear is the same gear in all 3 zones. Stillmoor is the only of the 3 zones that does not share Planar and PvP merchants for each faction.

Planar Focus/Essence

The “Planar Goods” merchant (usually right next to “Rare Planar Goods“) again will sell the upgraded Planar Focuses, while the rare merchant sells the upgraded Planar Essences. See the notes above in step 5 for all the details.

Hopefully this guide has helped in getting your character geared up for the 40-50 levels as well as Rift PvP. Let us know if something is not accurate of if we can make this guide better.
